Now is the season and the abundance of vegetables and fruits. To save vitamins for the winter, you can use a very simple and affordable (unlike canning) method - freezing.Freezing vegetables and fruits at home is not only an easy process, but also, to some extent, fascinating.

In frozen plants, not subject to heat treatment, almost all vitamins and microelements are preserved. And frozen fruits and vegetables can be stored for up to 12 months at a temperature of -18 degrees.

So, first, think about what vegetables and fruits you use for cooking most often. Someone is a lover of borscht - then freeze bell peppers and other vegetables, and someone cannot live without rolls with cherries (in this case, cherries are a direct way to the freezer).

Frozen fruits can be used not only for baking, but also for making compotes. Vegetables are suitable for cooking borscht, soups, stews and sauteed.

Freezing fruits and vegetables at home

To begin with, vegetables and fruits must be washed well. Remove pits from fruits and cut out the core.

Vegetables are best cut in the way you plan to use them in a dish. For example, Bulgarianpepper for borsch, or eggplant for stew, it is better to chop finely right away.

After that, put vegetables and fruits in sealed bags for freezing, or plastic containers and put in the freezer.

If your refrigerator has a quick freeze chamber, then you first need to put vegetables and fruits in it, and only after complete freezing, transfer it to the main compartment of the freezer.

Remember that the tighter the packaging, the better the food will last.

Personally, in order not to take up containers and save space in the refrigerator, I put finely chopped food in a clean plastic bag and tightly tamp the bags into containers. I put the containers in the quick freeze compartment. After the vegetables and fruits are frozen, I take out the bags from the containers. It turns out even square briquettes, which are very convenient to store in the freezer. By the way, there are also some great ways to save your greens for the winter.

Freezing vegetables and fruits at home is not only a way to save vitamins for the winter, but also a significant savings. Calculate for yourself - how much does 0.5 kg of fresh vegetables cost now, and how much does a 0.5 kg package of frozen vegetables cost in the winter in the store. In general, good luck with your blanks!
