Mulled wine is classified as a warming alcoholic beverage. Most reputable establishments delight their customers with its taste, while you can choose both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. But you don't have to go to a restaurant to enjoy a fragrant hot drink.

Non-alcoholic homemade mulled wine can be successfully prepared on your own, at home.

Composition of non-alcoholic mulled wine for 10-12 people:

  • 1 orange;
  • 1 lemon;
  • 10 apples;
  • 1 tbsp teaspoon ground cinnamon;
  • 1 small piece of peeled and chopped ginger;
  • 12 carnation buds;
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla;
  • ¾ cup brown sugar.

Preparation of non-alcoholic mulled wine

  • Remove the zest from the orange and lemon. Leave a little zest of both fruits to add bitterness to the drink. The bones can not be removed, as in the next steps the mulled wine will be filtered. Cut the orange and lemon into pieces.
  • Cut the apples into four pieces without peeling and pitting them.

  • To the bigput slices of orange, lemon, a little zest in a saucepan, add apples, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, vanillin and sugar.
  • Pour all the ingredients with enough water to cover the contents of the pot.
  • Put the lid on the pot and simmer the mulled wine for 3 hours over low heat.

  • After that, mash the fruit with a crush and continue cooking for 30-60 minutes.

  • After cooking, strain the resulting puree through a sieve into a large jug. Ready drink immediately serve to the table.

Advice! Fruit manufacturers often coat them with wax or polymers to make them last longer, so soak fruit for 2-3 minutes in warm water before cooking. This will get rid of wax and polymers.


Ready homemade mulled wine can be cooled and refrigerated. Subsequently, it can be heated in a saucepan and served on the table. However, it is worth noting that heated mulled wine loses its aroma and taste, so it is better to brew this drink in small portions, pour it into beautiful New Year mugs and drink it right away.


Those who still prefer to add alcohol to fruit mulled wine can dilute the finished drink with red wine or rum.
