Artificial snow is an opportunity to have fun with children, creating various New Year's crafts or just making a snowman in a warm room. There are different ways to make artificial snow, depending on how you want to use it. This article contains the most interesting and proven recipes for games and crafts.

1. Artificial snow from diapers

Modern diapers use sodium polyacrylate as an absorbent. This substance is able to absorb moisture 30 times its own weight. From the water, its fibers swell and become like snow crystals.

To make snow out of diapers you will need:

  • 1 childdiaper;
  • big pelvis;
  • rubber gloves;
  • water.

Sequence of actions:

  1. Remove the inner stuffing from the diaper, which will look like ordinary cotton wool, and chop it into the smallest pieces.
  2. After that, transfer the filler to a bowl, into which you need to gradually add water and knead everything with your hands. Be sure to wear gloves to avoid chemical burns.
  3. Gradually, the filler fibers will become like real snow crystals. It is important not to overdo it with water, so as not to get an ugly mass of gray instead of snow.

For a closer look to the real snow from the diaper can be placed in the refrigerator for a while, but not in the freezer.

2. Made from shaving foam and baking soda

This snow recipe is perfect for traditional children's winter games. You can easily make snowballs or a whole snowman out of it, and you can also play with it using sandbox molds. To create such snow you will need:

  • shaving foam;
  • baking soda;
  • deep bowl for mixing ingredients.

Progress:

  1. Squeeze shaving foam into a deep bowl.
  2. Then, gradually adding soda, mix everything well to get a crumbly, but well-collected mass.

This artificial snow is not only similar in appearance to the real one, but also in tactile sensations. Thanks to the menthol fragrance, the mass is cool to the touch.

3. DIY kinetic snow

This snow feels slightly fluid, reminiscent of kinetic sand. To make it at home, you will need:

  • 1 part soda;
  • ½ part cornmeal;
  • ½ part cornstarch;
  • ¾ parts of water.

Work sequence:

  1. First you need to sift flour and soda into a suitable container.
  2. Pour water into the resulting dry mixture and stir well.
  3. Finish the preparation of artificial snow by mixing starch into the mass. It is he who will make the mixture crispy and fluid.

If there is no corn starch in the kitchen, it can be easily replaced with potato starch. This will not negatively affect the final result.

4. Soap artificial snow

To the touch, such snow is very pleasant and silky. The main ingredient in this recipe is hard soap, but only white bars will work, because snow is never green or pink. The list of all required ingredients will be as follows:

  • white soap;
  • peppermint essential oil;
  • sequins or glitter;
  • fine grater (e.g. for cheese or zest).

How to:

  1. Stand in the freezer overnight for soap bars to freeze well.
  2. Then grate them on the finest grater, add some glitter and a couple of drops of essential oil, which will make the mass cool to the touch.

This artificial snow alsoeasy to mold and can be made into a snowman.

5. Homemade crispy starch snow

This white mass also resembles kinetic sand. All the ingredients needed for cooking are not expensive and can be found in any kitchen. Crispy Artificial Snow Ingredients:

  • 3 parts cornstarch;
  • ½ part refined vegetable oil.

Cooking:

  1. To mix the ingredients, you need to prepare a deep bowl and a whisk. Then, taking a glass or cup, measure the required amount of starch and oil.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir thoroughly with a whisk. When the butter and starch combine, the snow is ready to play.

This recipe has a big plus: all of its ingredients are edible, so nothing bad will happen if the baby accidentally swallows it. However, the oil can make it difficult to clean up after games.

6. From soap and toilet paper

For making snowmen or other winter crafts, you can make a mass of white toilet paper or paper towels and soap. To create it you will need:

  • white toilet paper;
  • bar of white hard soap;
  • a little warm water.

Cooking master class:

  1. First, grate the soap on the bottom of the plate and spread it evenly.
  2. Then tear white toilet paper or paper kitchen towels into small flakes. Put the resulting scraps of paper on the soap.
  3. After that, put the plate in the microwave for 60 seconds. There the paper will rise and the soap flakes will become soft and pliable.
  4. Taking the plate out of the microwave, pour some warm water into it, mix everything thoroughly and the snow is ready.

7. Styrofoam dry snow

Often for various crafts, imitation of snow is needed, which will not melt and retain its shape for a long time, for example, to make snow-covered twigs. There is an easy and affordable way to make artificial snow that meets these requirements. For this you will need:

  • foam;
  • table fork.

How to get and where to apply snow flakes:

  1. First, you need to find a piece of Styrofoam. The one in which household appliances are packed will do.
  2. Next, use a fork to gently scrape off the small foam balls.
  3. The resulting snow looks like small hail, but it will look spectacular on the bare branches of a winter composition, imitating snow.

8. PE foam

Polyethylene foam is a material widely used in various fields. Due to the elasticity and elasticity of the canvas, fragile household appliances are often packed into it. And if there is a piece of such material in the house, then it can be used to make snow for the New Year, which will not melt, no matter how hot it is in the apartment or house.

For work you will need:

  • a piece of foampolyethylene;
  • fine grater.

Steps of work:

  1. Cut off a piece of PE foam and carefully grate it on a very fine grater.
  2. The resulting flakes are collected and used to create New Year's decor.

In this snow for a sparkling shine, you can add a little glitter. To cover any surface with the resulting flakes, it must be smeared with PVA glue, and then powdered with flakes.

9. Artificial snow from a candle

For the New Year 2023, you can make a themed craft with your child - a snow globe. As a flask, a round glass jar with a tightly screwed lid is suitable. Inside it, you can place New Year's characters or a symbol of the coming year. And to make the ball snowy, you will need:

  • paraffin candle;
  • fine grater.

Sequence of actions:

  1. Grate a white paraffin candle on a fine grater.
  2. Pour the resulting flakes into a mixture of water and glycerin, which then fill the snow globe.

10. From polymer clay or air plasticine

If a child made something with his own hands and did not remove the white air plasticine or polymer clay, then there is no need to get upset and throw away the damaged materials. These dried residues can be used to create artificial snow. In the work you will need:

  • remnants of white air plasticine or polymer clay;
  • fine grater and/or coffee grinder.

Steps of the cooking process:

  1. Break dry pieces of clay or plasticine into small pieces with your hands.
  2. Then grind them into small flakes in a coffee grinder or grate.

Since there will be little such snow, it can be used for small light crafts, for example, to make volumetric snow on handmade New Year's greeting cards.

11. Snow Slime

Slime is a popular anti-stress toy among children, made of a sticky substance that is so pleasant to stretch and squeeze in your hands. They are of different types and composition. For children, on the eve of the New Year, you can make a snow slime or cloud slime (cloud slime). To create it you will need:

  • PVA glue;
  • washing gel, preferably blue or transparent;
  • finely ground coconut.

You need to act as follows:

  1. Pour the glue into a suitable container, add washing gel to it and carefully knead the mass until it stops sticking from your hands.
  2. Then add coconut flakes to the slime and mix well. Do not add too many chips so that the mass does not harden and remains airy.

Since the snow for slime is coconut flakes, the finished anti-stress will not only have an airy texture, but also a pleasant aroma of coconut.

12. Artificial snow made from soap and starch

To give a snowy look to your DIY Christmas wreath,you can prepare a snow-white mass from the following ingredients:

  • white soap;
  • potato starch;
  • hot water.

Cooking sequence:

  1. Grate white hard soap into a deep bowl for whipping.
  2. Pour starch into it and pour in some hot water.
  3. Beat all the ingredients in a fluffy snow-white mass.
  4. Apply the resulting snow to the craft and leave to dry.

13. From PVA glue and starch

If you need a white volumetric mass imitating snow to decorate a winter craft, then you can use the following recipe:

  • 2 parts starch;
  • 2 pieces of PVA glue;
  • 2 pieces of silver paint.

Do it like this:

  1. Take a container of a suitable size, measure and combine all the ingredients in it.
  2. Next, the contents of the container should be very thoroughly rubbed until smooth.

14. Fir branches in hoarfrost

A very interesting experiment can be done with children, which will result in beautiful spruce branches in hoarfrost. For it you will need:

  • warm water;
  • coarse s alt.

Progress:

  1. Heat a small amount of water over low heat.
  2. Then prepare a concentrated saline solution in it by adding s alt to the water until it no longer dissolves in it.
  3. Dip spruce branches in the solution and leave onfor a while. Then take them out and let them dry.

At the end of all the manipulations done, beautiful branches of the New Year tree will be obtained, which can be used for decoration.

15. Sweet snowball

Make artificial snow edible. Pastry bakers have long known about this, who decorate Christmas gingerbread cookies with them. Sweet snow can be used not only for baking decor, but also for various crafts. To prepare it, you need to take:

  • 1 chicken egg white;
  • 150-200g powdered sugar.

Cooking:

  1. With a mixer at medium speed, beat the protein into a light foam.
  2. Then, add powdered sugar in small portions, continuing to beat everything with a mixer until strong peaks.

Apply the resulting mass to the craft with a brush and then dry it in the oven at 50 degrees with the door ajar. In 2-3 hours you will be able to admire the snow-covered beauty.
